Recently I was forced to take a ditch to avoid a head on collision. The guy in front of me was hit, but the damage wasn’t severe. In the process of swerving I tweaked my back. I have hurt for 2 days from stiff muscles. Yet, I’m grateful for just sore muscles. My son was in the back seat and I was hauling new glass and cast iron patio furniture. So many factors could have gone badly in that few seconds, and they didn’t. For this I feel blessed.
When I was young I had a wise Aunt once tell me, “Anyone can find the negative in anything, the real challenge is to find the positive”. So I am putting forth that challenge. Take the negative things, the things you worry about, or things that annoy you and find a positive light in them. Sometimes when I’m really struggling, this is a challenge I give myself.
Here’s a few of mine:
I was ran off of the road and into a ditch, pulling muscles in my back.
I am ok, there was no damage to my car, and my son was ok. We were able to drive away.
I struggle financially at times to make ends meet.
I have a roof over my head, my needs are met, and my life has so much love in it.
Sometimes my 4 year old acts up and I’m clueless at what to do with him or about it.
It is an opportunity for me to learn. We will both grow out of the ups and downs together.
I never feel like I have enough time to get everything done I want to do.
It makes my priorities clearer and I don’t waste time or energy on things that don’t deserve it.
What are you struggling with? How can you make it positive?
