Ever since my son was a toddler I would say to him, “let’s go on an adventure!”. Life is an adventure. At 5 he often asks, “Mom, what adventure are we going on today?” I think it’s great to face each day like it’s an adventure with something to offer.
While I’m on the road, I spend a lot of time in the car, eating fast food, and sitting in the hotels in the evening. I decided I need to be more active, lose weight, and try to find more adventure so my days are more fulfilling.
As I travel, I have started to use the app Yelp. I put in Active Life and it pulls up lots of parks, trails, and different fun things to do near where I am. I also bought a pedometer that measures how many calories I’ve burned and how many steps I’ve made. I have found that this is a huge motivator to me. Every day I’ve had it, I have beaten my goal and as a result, I’ve lost 3.5 lbs in one week. Simply from hiking or walking.
Today I was stuck in work for most of the day. I didn’t have the time to do a deep hike or find something crazy. Instead, I found some nice trails at an arboretum and Japanese Tea Garden. It was super humid, but under all the trees it was nice and cool. I also took so many amazing picture that I hope to paint when I get back in the studio.
Won’t you come play?
