I had to fly to Chicago today to start training for a new contract. It doesn’t leave much time for finding an adventure. I was a little worried when I got to the airport and a woman zeroed in on me and decided to unload all of her problems on me. As a result, I was the last one on the plane. I was just praying to the travel gods that I would not be sat next to her. Being the last one on the plane, they made me check my bag which I was going to have to retrieve from baggage claim. I never check bags. When I got to my seat, someone was in it and was quite pissy with me when I told her she was in my seat. Apparently the seat meant much more to her than it did me, so I sat across the aisle in her seat. I ended up being sat by a real cool artist who I became friend with on the trip.
When I got to Chicago it was the typical shuffling around, meetings, and being introduced to everyone. I attended the required dinner. When i got back to my hotel I noticed what looked like a trail just across the parking lot. I asked the receptionist about it and she didn’t know. I decided to go exploring. It was a trail. It looks like maybe it was once part of a golf course. It has a paved trail and the entire thing is grown up around it. It is actually a nice little escape from the city around it. It was just at a mile long and full of flowers and wildlife (guessing from the animal tracks and poo on the trail). It made for a nice little adventure at sunset.
