Adventures come easy this week. I’m on vacation and have been so excited for so long to bring my son to the ocean. It’s hard in some ways because I’ve had to rethink some activities due to his broken arm. The first day of our vacation we went to Key Largo. I’ve never been so this is a first for me. I planned a glass bottom boat ride over the coral reef. I use to live in Hawaii and so madly in love with the ocean. Since snorkeling or scuba wasn’t an option a glass bottom boat was our only option left. The boat ride out to the reef was fun and watching the reef below our feet was a nice way to see it (though next time will be scuba)!
Then we went to Theatre of the Sea. It’s a cool Nature Sanctuary that has a lot of rescue sea animals. We got to ride a boat around the lagoon where a dolphin came up to the boat to say hi. Then we walked the nature sanctuary viewing the sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, sea lions, and various other sea creatures. A guide gave us a tour so we could get learn about them as we walked through.
We also got to watch a dolphin and sea lion show. My little guy got to go pet the dolphin and I got to kiss a sea lion.
It was so incredibly hot and humid. We ended up having to flush his cast with cold water at a shower to help with the discomfort.
All in all it was a great day with lots of new experiences.
