It’s easy to find adventures around the house. I have moved into a home that needs a lot of work. I have made a list of projects to work on. This weekend it was nice to be home and just launch into some of those projects. Most of these were things I was doing for the first time.
Day 55: A Splash of Red
I love bright colors; they make me happy. I decided to try to give some old furniture a new life. I have a bamboo table and two side tables. They look rough and won’t hold stain. I decided that I would paint them bright red and add them to a pretty neutral room. I have never spray painted furniture, so this was an adventure. I picked three shades of red at Home Depot and then tried them out. I found the one I wanted, Apple Red Gloss. I drug the tables out onto the driveway and took the sander to them. Placing them on a drop cloth I sprayed away. I loved the color so much, I also grabbed my entry shelf that a friend built but I had yet to figure out what color to paint it.
I just have to say, I LOVE my red furniture.
Day 56: Being Domesticated
I took on some big projects around the house. I have an amazing deck that is in need of some desperate love and care. With recruiting my kiddos help, I swept and cleaned. Then I broke out the power washer. I sprayed down the entire deck and then handed over the sprayer to my son and let him go to town. He had a blast spraying me, the house, the deck, and anything that happened to be within a 10 foot radius.
Once we were satisfied there was nothing left to clean on the deck we tackled the landscaping in front of the house. Weeds had overgrown the flower beds. I spent hours cleaning the flower beds, pulling weeds, and then laying 24 bags of mulch.
I felt incredibly accomplished and slept like a baby. The adventure challenges are not only keeping my life interesting and leading to a more active lifestyle, but I’m also getting a lot of those “to do” lists done!
