I had quite the adventure to get to Seattle. Once here, I helped lay a driving track and headed back to my hotel. Out of a sheer luck I got a phone call from a friend who said, “Let’s go explore”! I was so excited. We jumped in a car and went downtown Seattle. I was a little nervous about driving in the big city, but I did fine. My only real goal was to get to the Pike’s Fish Market. Unfortunately, by the time I got there, they had just closed. We spent the next several hours just exploring the area on foot.
We explored the wharf and found Post Alley and the gum wall.
We made our way to the wharf and then decided to go to the Chihuly Glass & Garden Museum. I love Chihuly’s work. We went through it and was in complete awe of its beauty and vibrancy.
Then we went up in to the Space Needle. It’s maybe the most touristy thing you can do, but it’s still one of those things you have to do. I’m glad I did. The view was breathtaking.
Then I decided to go back to the Chihuly Garden and see it at night. I’m so glad I did. I noticed things I didn’t see in the light. It was an entirely different experience. Shadows created by the chandeliers played with the light in a very melodramatic way.
I spent the rest of the evening walking through the streets in the rain enjoying the city and the weather. It was a great intro to Seattle.
